I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE
Yoḥanan (John) 14:1“Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in Elohim (God), believe also in Me. 2 “In My Father’s house are many staying places. And if not, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I shall come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you might be too. 4 “And where I go you know, and the way you know. 5 T’oma said to Him, “Master, we do not know where You are going, and how are we able to know the way? ”Yoḥanan (John) 14:6 יהושע (Yeshua) said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father too. From now on you know Him, and have seen. 8 Philip said to Him, “Master, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 יהושע (Yeshua) said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father, and how do you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak from Myself. But the Father who stays in Me does His works. 11 “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, otherwise believe Me because of the works themselves. 12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also. And greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father.
We see written in John that Yeshua ( יהושע ) is giving us 3 attributes of Himself, "the Way, the Truth, the Life" and then an instruction that “no one comes to the Father except through Me”. Let’s see what scripture says about these attributes that He gave Himself, we need to remember that at this time there are no new writings (letters) to the new believers or what is called the haBritt haHadasha, New testament or 2nd writings, at this time only the Tanak is in existence, the Tanak consist of the Torah and the Prophets also “the Writings” the history of the people called “the children of Yisrael”.
YESHUA SAYS I AM THE WAY
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 6:16 Thus said יהוה (Yahovah), “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and find rest for yourselves. But they said, ‘We do not walk in it.’
Tehillim (Psalms) 119:1 Aleph Blessed are the perfect in the way, Who walk in the Torah of יהוה (Yahovah)!
Tehillim (Psalms) 139:24 And see if an idolatrous way is in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 8:20 “I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of right-ruling,
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 2:20 So walk in the way of goodness, And guard the paths of righteousness.
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 6:24 And יהוה (Yahovah) commanded us to do all these laws, to fear יהוה (Yahovah) our Elohim (God), for our good always, to keep us alive, as it is today. 25 And it is righteousness for us when we guard to do all this command before יהוה (Yahovah) our Elohim (God), as He has commanded us.’
Romiyim (Romans) 3:17 and the way of peace they have not known.” 18 “There is no fear of Elohim before their eyes.”
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 28:1 “And it shall be, if you diligently obey the voice of יהוה (Yahovah) your Elohim (God), to guard to do all His commands which I command you today, that יהוה (Yahovah) your Elohim (God) shall set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of יהוה (Yahovah) your Elohim (God):
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 21:16 A man who strays from the way of understanding, Rests in the assembly of the dead.
Tehillim (Psalms) 1:1 Blessed is the man who shall not walk in the counsel of the wrong, And shall not stand in the path of sinners, And shall not sit in the seat of scoffers, 2 But his delight is in the Torah of יהוה (Yahovah), And he meditates in His Torah (Law) day and night. 3 For he shall be as a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That yields its fruit in its season, And whose leaf does not wither, And whatever he does prospers. 4 The wrong are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wrong shall not rise in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For יהוה (Yahovah) knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wrong comes to naught.
Tehillim (Psalms) 138:5 And let them sing of the ways of יהוה (Yahovah), For great is the esteem (Glory) of יהוה.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 9:6 Leave the simple ones and live, And walk in the way of understanding.
Ma`asei (Acts) 24: 10 And when the governor had motioned him to speak, Sha’ul answered, “Knowing that for many years you have been a judge of this nation, I gladly defend myself, 11 seeing you are able to know that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to Yerushalayim to worship. 12 “And they neither found me in the Set-apart Place disputing with anyone nor stirring up the crowd, either in the congregations or in the city. 13 “Nor are they able to prove the charges of which they now accuse me. 14 “And this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the Elohim of my fathers, believing all that has been written in the Torah and in the Prophets, 15 having an expectation in Elohim, which they themselves also wait for, that there is to be a resurrection of the dead, both of the righteous and the unrighteous. 16 “And in this I exercise myself to have a clear conscience toward Elohim and men always.
Ma`asei (Acts) 24:22 And having heard this, having known more exactly about the Way, Felix put them off, saying, “When Lysias the commander comes down, I shall decide your case.”
So there are enough verses above to make a clear understanding what scripture says about what “the Way” and what His Ways lead to, they are “good”, they lead to “rest”, the people who are of His Ways are blessed and called perfect “Blessed are the perfect in the way” they are certain people, the people who are blessed and found perfect because they do what He asks of them, they “walk in the Torah of יהוה (Yahovah)!” The writer of the Psalms says “And lead me in the way everlasting”, It is peace to walk in His ways “the way of peace”, it is good to walk in His ways and is constantly stated in scripture “walk in the way of goodness” King Solomon says “I walk in the way of righteousness”(note Deut 6:24-25 what is righteousness). So to walk in the way of righteousness is to walk in His (Yahovah’s) instruction or Torah (note Deut 6:24-25 what is righteousness), as King Solomon was doing and he stated what the end result was and that is righteousness. Then scripture has a clear result of what walking in His ways brings “I set before you the way of life and the way of death” Life or death “the way” brings us life as Yeshua said “I am the way” He Yeshua is the way to eternal life and that is doing as He did, and doing as He walked in His Fathers ways or HIs ways for He is the Father in the flesh, He walked in the ancient ways from the beginning that bring life everlasting.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 21:16 A man who strays from the way of understanding, Rests in the assembly of the dead.
Yoḥanan (John) 14:13“ And this is everlasting life, that they should know You and יהושע (Yeshua ) Messiah whom You have sent. (YOU refering to Yahovah the Word and Yeshua the Word made flesh), the only true Elohim (God) (who is Yahovah)
So the scripture of Yahovah says He who strays from “the way” “rest in the assembly of the dead” so if Yeshua is the way then we are not to stray from following Him for He is the way to the Father as promised by His words “no one comes to the Father except by me” so “the way” to life and life everlasting is to do as He did, as He did what His Father asked to walk in His Fathers ways and instructions and right rulings.
Again let’s see this Proverb it brings us back to see what scripture says what His ways are, His Torah (or instruction) Yeshua said He is “the way” right?
Tehillim (Psalms) 119:1 Aleph Blessed are the perfect in the way, Who walk in the Torah of יהוה (Yahovah)!
Iḇ`rim (Hebrews) 5:9 And having been perfected, He (Yeshua) became the Causer of everlasting deliverance to all those obeying Him, (doing as He did obedience)
Yoḥanan (John) 3:36 He who believes in the Son possesses everlasting life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of Elohim remains on him.
Iḇ`rim (Hebrews) 7:26 For it was fitting that we should have such a High Priest – kind, innocent, undefiled (perfect), having been separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens,
Iḇ`rim (Hebrews) 7:28 For the Torah appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the Torah, appoints the Son (Yeshua) having been perfected forever.
So as Yeshua said He is the way, He was perfect without sin by doing as His Father asked, He Yeshua was pleasing to His Father because He walked in His Fathers ways, He is the way as He stated and we are to follow His ways for they are the ways to please the Father. He was found perfect by walking in the Torah or the instructions of His Father and we are to do the same as He walked, because He loved the Father and as we claim to love Yeshua we are to do as He did out of that love for Yeshua and His Father.
Yoḥanan Aleph (1 John) 2:5 But whoever guards His Word, truly the love of Elohim has been perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 The one who says he stays in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked. 7 Beloved, I write no fresh command to you, but an old command which you have had from the beginning. The old command is the Word which you heard from the beginning.
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 18:15 “But My people have forgotten Me, they have burned incense to what is false, and they have stumbled from their ways, from the ancient paths, to walk in bypaths and not on a highway,
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 6:16 Thus said יהוה (Yahovah), “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and find rest for yourselves. But they said, ‘We do not walk in it.’
This has been the command for His people all along since the beginning from long ago.
Galatiyim (Galatians) 3:6 Even so Aḇraham “did believe Elohim, and it was reckoned unto him as righteousness.”
Berĕshith (Genesis) 15:5 And He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward the heavens, and count the stars if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So are your seed.” 6 And he believed in יהוה (Yahovah), and He (Yahovah) reckoned it to him for righteousness. 7 And He said to him, “I am יהוה, who brought you out of Ur-kasdim, to give you this land to inherit it.”
Because Abraham beloved and did as He asked of Abraham, it has always been the same since the beginning to Yeshua, do as He ask or do as He Yahovah commanded.
Tehillim (Psalms) 1:1 Blessed is the man who shall not walk in the counsel of the wrong, And shall not stand in the path of sinners, And shall not sit in the seat of scoffers, 2 But his delight is in the Torah of יהוה, And he meditates in His Torah day and night. 6 For יהוה knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wrong comes to naught.
Tehillim (Psalms) 119:1 Aleph Blessed are the perfect in the way, Who walk in the Torah! of יהוה 2 Blessed are those who observe His witnesses, Who seek Him with all the heart! 3 Yes, they shall do no unrighteousness; They shall walk in His ways.
I AM THE TRUTH
Yoḥanan (John) 17:17 “Set them apart in Your truth – Your Word is truth.
Yoḥanan (John) 7:16 יהושע (Yeshua) answered them and said, “My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
Tehillim (Psalms) 119::142 Your righteousness is righteousness forever, And Your Torah is truth.
Tehillim (Psalms) 119:150 Those who pursue mischief have drawn near; They have been far from Your Torah. 151 You are near, O יהוה (Yahovah), And all Your commands are truth.
Tehillim (Psalms) 119:160 The sum of Your word is truth, And all Your righteous right-rulings are forever.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 4:1 Children, listen to the discipline of a father, And give attention to know understanding; 2 For I gave you good instruction: Do not forsake my Torah.
Yoḥanan (John) 1:14 And the Word became flesh and pitched His tent among us, and we saw His esteem, esteem as of an only brought-forth of a father, complete in favour and truth.
Yoḥanan (John) 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. 2 He was in the beginning with Elohim. 3 All came to be through Him, and without Him not even one came to be that came to be. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
THE TRUTH IS THE WORD - (John) 17:17 “Set them apart in Your truth – Your Word is truth.
THE WORD IS TRUTH - Tehillim (Psalms) 119:160 The sum of Your word is truth, And all Your righteous right-rulings are forever.
THE TRUTH IS THE TORAH - Tehillim (Psalms) 119::142 Your righteousness is righteousness forever, And Your Torah is truth.
AND YESHUA IS THE WORD MADE FLESH - Yoḥanan (John) 1:14 And the Word became flesh and pitched His tent among us, and we saw His esteem, esteem as of an only brought-forth of a father, complete in favour and truth.
If Yeshua is the word made flesh see (Yoḥanan (John) 1:14 And the Word became flesh) and the word is the Truth see (Tehillim (Psalms) 119:160 The sum of Your word is truth) and the Torah is the truth see (Tehillim (Psalms) 119:142 Your righteousness is righteousness forever, And Your Torah is truth.)
We are not suppose to forsake Yeshua but follow Him, He is “the Way” He is “the Truth” He is the word made flesh He is the Torah or instruction to life everlasting, If we love Him we will do as He says.
Yoḥanan (John) 14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 4:1 Children, listen to the discipline of a father, And give attention to know understanding; 2 For I gave you good instruction: Do not forsake my Torah.
Another words He says do not forsake My Word, Yeshua is the word made flesh. And now lets see what scripture says about His statement that He is “the life”
Tehillim (Psalms) 119:30 I have chosen the way of truth; Your right-rulings I have held level
Yeshua is the the way He is the truth He is right rulings in the flesh He is the Torah and way of instructions.
I AM THE LIFE
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 32:46 he (Moshea) said to them, “Set your heart on all the words with which I warn you today, so that you command your children to guard to do all the Words of this Torah. 47 For it is not a worthless Word for you, because it is your life, and by this Word you prolong your days on the soil which you pass over the Yardĕn to possess.
So we are commanded to do all the words of the Torah it is NOT worthless, it is our life! Yeshua is The Life, He is the Torah the Word made flesh and we are to do the Words that He has been sent to instruct us in The Way, we are to follow Him and His voice. His words that are given to Him by the Father are not worthless, they are life.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 12:28 In the way of righteousness is life, And in its pathway there is no death.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 3:1 My son, do not forget my Torah, And let your heart watch over my commands; 2 For length of days and long life and peace they add to you.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 4:20 My son, listen to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from your eyes; Guard them in the midst of your heart; 22 For they are life to those who find them, And healing to all their flesh. 23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For out of it (it being His Torah, His words) are the sources of life.
Yoḥanan (John) 5:37 And the Father who sent Me, He bore witness of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38 “And you do not have His Word staying in you, because you do not believe Him whom He sent. 39 “You search the Scriptures, because you think you possess everlasting life in them. And these are the ones that bear witness of Me. 40 “But you do not desire to come to Me in order to possess life.
Tehillim (Psalms) 40:8 I have delighted to do Your pleasure (your will), O my Elohim, And Your Torah is within my heart.” 9 I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness, In the great assembly; See, I do not restrain my lips, O יהוה, You know.
Yoḥanan Aleph (1 John) 1:1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life: 2 And the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and announce to you that everlasting life which was with the Father and was manifested to us. 3 We announce to you what we have seen and heard, so that you too might have fellowship with us. And truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son יהושע Messiah.
Tehillim (Psalms) 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life. 51 The proud have utterly scorned me, I did not turn aside from Your Torah.
Remember that Yeshua is the word and in the above verse “the Word gives life”
Yoḥanan (John) 1:14 And the Word became flesh and pitched His tent among us, and we saw His esteem, esteem as of an only brought-forth of a father, complete in favour and truth.
Remember that Yeshua is the word made flesh and the word brings life.
Tehillim (Psalms) 119:50 Let me never forget Your orders, For by them You have given me life. 94 I am Yours, save me; For I have sought Your orders.
Yoḥanan (John) 8:12 Therefore יהושע spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me (does what He says) shall by no means walk in darkness, but possess the light of life.”
Yoḥanan (John) 8:28 So יהושע said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Aḏam, then you shall know that I am He, and that I do none at all of Myself, but as My Father taught Me, these words I speak.
Yeshua speaks what His Father taught Him and gave Him to speak to us to bring us the words that bring life the instruction from the Father Yahovah.
Yoḥanan (John) 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 “And I give them everlasting life, and they shall by no means ever perish, and no one shall snatch them out of My hand.
Yoḥanan (John) 3:36 He who believes in the Son possesses everlasting life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of Elohim remains on him.
To believe is to obey and follow and do as instructed us to live as was instructed as His Father instructed Him.
Yehezqĕl (Ezekiel) 18:21 “But the wrong, if he turns from all his sins which he has done, and he shall guard all My laws, and shall do right-ruling and righteousness, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.
Yoḥanan (John) 14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.
Yoḥanan (John) 15:10 “If you guard My commands, you shall stay in My love even as I have guarded My Father’s commands and stay in His love.
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 28:1 “And it shall be, if you diligently obey the voice of יהוה your Elohim, to guard to do all His commands which I command you today, that יהוה your Elohim shall set you high above all nations of the earth.
Yoḥanan (John) 3:34 “For He (Yeshua) whom Elohim has sent speaks the Words of Elohim, for Elohim does not give the Spirit by measure. 35 “The Father loves the Son, and has given all into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son possesses everlasting life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of Elohim remains on him.
We see in John 15:10 that Yeshua guarded to do His Fathers commands and stayed in His Fathers love and in John 14:15 Yeshua asks of us to guard His commands as He did in obedience to His Father, we are to do the same and do as Yeshua did. We see in John 3:34-36 that Yeshua the one sent from the Father has the words that lead to everlasting life, the belief in the Son is to obey the Son and do as He did and as He stayed in His Father’s love and now sits at the Fathers right hand according to scripture. Yeshua is life and no one comes to the Father except by obedience to the Son according to John 3:36 and John 14:6 He is the way to everlasting life to follow and do as He did.
”Yoḥanan (John) 14:6 יהושע (Yeshua) said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
To follow Yeshua is to do as He did and as He obeyed the Fathers commands and was pleasing to the Father and this is the teaching that He gave us or instruction that He was sent with the words that bring life The Fathers Torah, and as He stayed in the Fathers love by obedience to the Fathers ways and commands, He Yeshua asks of the ones who believe in Him to do the same for that is the way to the Father and He who does this obedience to the Son possess everlasting life.
Yoḥanan (John) 3:34-36 “For He (Yeshua) whom Elohim has sent speaks the Words of Elohim, for Elohim does not give the Spirit by measure. 35 “The Father loves the Son, and has given all into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son possesses everlasting life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of Elohim remains on him.
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 30:16-20 in that I am commanding you today to love יהוה your Elohim (God), to walk in His ways, and to guard His commands, and His laws, and His right-rulings. And you shall live and increase, and יהוה your Elohim shall bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 “But if your heart turns away, and you do not obey, and shall be drawn away, and shall bow down to other mighty ones and serve them, 18 “I have declared to you today that you shall certainly perish, you shall not prolong your days in the land which you are passing over the Yardĕn to enter and possess. 19 “I have called the heavens and the earth as witnesses today against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore you shall choose life, so that you live, both Therefore you shall choose life, so that you live, both you and your seed, 20 “to love יהוה your Elohim, to obey His voice, and to cling to Him – for He is your life and the length of your days – to dwell in the land which יהוה swore to your fathers, to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Ya‛aqoḇ, to give them.
Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 8:32-36 “And now, listen to me, you children, For blessed are they who guard my ways. 33 “Listen to discipline and become wise, And do not refuse it. 34 “Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 “For whoever finds me shall find life, And obtain favour (grace) from יהוה, 36 “But he who sins against me injures himself; All who hate me love death!”
